Nomadic Secure Solutions: A Journey of Experience and Innovation
Founded in 2022 by Todd Curtis, Nomadic Secure Solutions is the culmination of decades of experience in IT, risk management, education, and disaster response. Our story is one of adaptation, growth, and a commitment to leveraging technology to empower organizations.
The Early Years: Building a Foundation
Todd's career began with Sabre, supporting the IT infrastructure for American Airlines in the Northeast. This experience laid the groundwork for understanding how to implement systems and processes that effectively support clients.
Standing at the ticket counter at LaGuardia airport in NYC troubleshooting why the network is down at 4:30 on Christmas Eve with Quinton Terrantino standing across the counter as the next customer brings new insight into stress and effective troubleshooting. (The problem was identified and fixed within 10 minutes.)
As Sabre transitioned to EDS, Todd gained valuable insights into how corporate structure and culture influence both client and employee experiences.
Rising to the Challenge: 9/11 and Beyond
The events of 9/11 marked a pivotal moment. Todd's involvement in setting up a local command center for American Airlines at EWR and later volunteering at the American Red Cross to set up victim tracing systems for Ground Zero demonstrated the critical role of technology in crisis response.
Expanding Horizons: Data Centers and Project Management
Moving to EDS's Automated Operations group, Todd worked as a Data Center Engineer and later transitioned to project management. His projects included high-stakes data center migrations for Fortune 50 and government clients, and working with a global team to reverse engineer one of the first automated IT management systems in existence. The acquisition of EDS by HP provided further opportunities to witness both the benefits and challenges of corporate mergers.
Global Experiences: From Independent Consulting to COVID-19 Response
Todd's journey then led him to independent consulting, working across six continents in IT, remote medicine, risk management, and disaster preparedness. His clients ranged from National Geographic, the Discovery Channel. and the Smithsonian to various branches of the military and federal law enforcement.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Todd served as the clinical operations manager for a 6-bed ICU in the Dutch Caribbean, further honing his crisis management skills.
The Birth of Nomadic Secure Solutions
Returning home after these global experiences, Todd founded Nomadic Secure Solutions with a vision to bring world-class expertise to his local community. Growing up in Cooperstown, New York, and witnessing diverse community dynamics worldwide inspired him to create a company that:
